Nancy Maruyama Breaks News of Research Project on CBS Chicago

CBS 2's Roseanne Tellez interviewed Nancy Maruyama to report that for the first time, researchers might know why some babies are at higher risk than others.

After losing baby Brendan to SIDS 25 years ago, Nancy Maruyama joined SIDS of Illinois. Their website spreads the word about keeping your baby safe, and remembers those taken too soon.

Nancy showed Roseanne Tellez photos of Brendan and several other SIDS babies.  "You can see these babies don't look sick or different than any other babies," Maruyama said.

While this new research comes too late to save Brendan's life, it may help ensure that Nancy's two daughters, Caitlin and Jennifer never have to worry about SIDS for their own children.
